| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial Roman style typical of Achaean colonial coinage. The laureate wreath is visible atop the emperor's head, with the drapery of the cuirass indicated at the truncation. The surrounding legend, though partially garbled with an inverted D and reversed S, identifies the emperor by his full imperial titulature. The portrait exhibits the broad facial features characteristic of Commodus's later official imagery. |
