Obverse description Laureate, cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Emperor Commodus, depicted with a short beard, facing right and seen from the rear. The effigy presents a three-quarter rear view, a relatively uncommon die-cutting convention in provincial coinage. The peripheral legend encircles the bust in Greek characters identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature.
