Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, portrayed in the vigorous, youthful style characteristic of his early imperial coinage. The legend encircles the portrait in Greek capitals, reading ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ. The facial features are rendered with strong, individualised character typical of Severan-period provincial portraiture.
