| Obverse description | Bare head of Antoninus Pius facing right, portrayed with characteristic curly hair rendered in fine relief. The imperial effigy is depicted in the provincial Greek style typical of Asia Minor civic coinage of the Antonine period. A Greek legend encircles the portrait field, reading ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor as Autocrator Caesar Antoninus. The flan is irregular, consistent with hammered provincial bronze coinage. |
