Reverse description The god Sarapis reclines to the left upon a ceremonial couch or kline, his body shown in three-quarter view. He holds an eagle in his outstretched right hand and grasps a long transverse sceptre with his left. The composition reflects the syncretic Egypto-Roman iconography of Sarapis as adopted in Pontic colonial coinage. The colonial legend C I F S AN CCIIII is distributed around the field, recording the Pontic era year 204 of the Julian colony of Felix Sinope.
