Reverse description Dionysus, the patron deity of Teos, seated left on a throne or rock, holding a cantharus in his extended right hand and a long thyrsus in his left. The god is depicted with flowing drapery across his lower body, reflecting the civic pride of Teos as a city renowned for its Dionysiac associations. The encircling legend names the local strategos responsible for the coin issue, with the ethnic of the Teans divided across the field. The reverse displays the characteristic thick green patina and surface encrustation visible on both faces of the flan.
