Reverse description Apollo Klarios, the tutelary deity of the celebrated oracle sanctuary near Colophon, depicted naked to the waist and seated to the left upon a rock or throne. The god holds a laurel branch directed downwards in one hand while resting his other arm upon a lyre, his emblematic attributes referencing the oracular and musical aspects of his cult. The composition reflects the civic pride of Colophon in its close association with the Clarian Apollo sanctuary. The Greek reverse legend, distributed in the field and around the periphery, names the local strategos responsible for the issue.
