(Translation: Emperor Caesar Gaius Messius Quintus Decius Traianus Augustus)
Reverse description Two Tychai standing facing one another, clasping right hands in a dextrarum iunctio gesture symbolising civic concord; to the left, a statue of a deity or civic figure atop a tall column; between the two figures, a lighted altar; above the scene, an eagle perched upon a palm branch; to the right, the centaur Sagittarius, emblem of Legio III Parthica, drawing a bow; in the exergue, the river god Chaboras (Khabur) depicted reclining or swimming, personifying the local river deity of the Rhesaena region. The composition reflects the colonial pride and military associations of the Septimian colony, rendered in the eclectic provincial style of Mesopotamian civic coinage.
