Reverse description The Emperor Trajan, depicted in full military attire, stands facing left and extends his right hand to crown a trophy of arms erected before him. The trophy, composed of captured Dacian weapons and armour mounted on a post, symbolises his victory in the Dacian Wars. Trajan's left hand rests on a long spear held vertically at his side. The composition emphasises imperial virtus and the triumphal theme celebrated in the aftermath of the Dacian campaigns. The surrounding Greek legend proclaims his imperial titles.
