| Reverse description | Zeus Labraundeus standing facing, depicted in the canonical Carian iconographic tradition holding a long sceptre in his left hand and the double-headed axe (labrys) over his right shoulder, the deity's emblematic attribute at Mylasa and Labraunda. The figure is rendered frontally with traces of drapery, flanked by the multi-line Greek dedicatory legend in the field. The inscription records the civic dedication by Claudius Melas on behalf of the Mylasean community, a formulaic epigraphic convention attested on Carian bronze coinage of the Flavian period. |
