| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I (the Arab) facing right, depicted in the military manner typical of the mid-third century Roman provincial coinage. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, frames the emperor's portrait with authority. The paludamentum is visible at the shoulder, fastened with a fibula, while the cuirass displays decorative pteryges at the lower edge. The encircling Latin legend runs from lower left to upper right around the periphery of the flan. |
