| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine curls characteristic of his mature portraiture. The imperial effigy is boldly modelled in high relief, with the laureate wreath clearly defined atop the emperor's wavy hair. A Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, partially legible due to wear, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥ[ΡΗΛΙΟΣ], abbreviating his imperial titulature. The style is consistent with provincial Greek civic coinage of the Antonine period. |

| Reverse description | Asclepius, the god of medicine, depicted standing facing, his head turned to the left, clad in a long chiton and himation draped over his lower body. He holds his distinctive attribute, the knotted serpent-staff (the asklepios), vertically in his right hand, the serpent coiling around the staff. The type reflects the civic religious identity of Zacynthus, and the ethnic legend ΖΑΚΥΝΘΙΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing community. The figure is rendered in a simplified but recognisable provincial style. |
