| Reverse description | The goddess Demeter is depicted striding to the right in full figure, clad in a long chiton and himation, with both arms extended and holding a flaming torch in each hand, emblematic of her eternal search for Persephone. The composition fills the field in the dynamic provincial style. The encircling Greek legend ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ ΝΕΟΚΟΡΩΝ, with the Ζ rendered in its reversed retrograde form, surrounds the central type, attesting to Cyzicus's proud status as a neokoros city. |

| Additional information |
Cyzicus held the title of neokoros — warden of an imperial cult temple — and fiercely advertised this honor on its civic coinage. The reversed Z in ΚΥΖΙΚΗΝΩΝ is a known die engraver's slip specific to this issue, not a later countermark, and helps identify a discrete emission within the city's Antonine-period bronze production. Cyzicus would eventually claim multiple neokorate titles, making the single-neokorate issues from Marcus Aurelius's early reign a useful chronological anchor for the series.
