| Obverse description | Three-quarter length bust of Antinous, bare-headed, facing left, rendered in a naturalistic Hadrianic style characteristic of provincial bronze coinage. The effigy displays the idealized youthful features associated with representations of Antinous, Hadrian's celebrated favourite. The legend ΒΕΤΟΥΡΙΟϹ, naming the local magistrate Veturius, appears in the field. The flan is broad and irregularly shaped, consistent with hand-struck provincial production. |
