| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Hadrian facing right, with an aegis visible on the left shoulder. The emperor is portrayed with his characteristic short beard and curly hair rendered in the Hadrianic style typical of provincial bronze coinage. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is executed in high relief with strong modeling of the facial features, consistent with civic mint production in Asia Minor during the early second century AD. |

His extended right hand holds a patera, while his left arm rests upon a long vertical sceptre. The figure is rendered in the classical Pheidian tradition common to provincial coinage of the Cibyra conventus. The magistrate's legend naming the grammateus Flavius Ovidianus is disposed around the field, identifying this issue as a civic emission of the Cibyrates under his administration. |
