Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view favored in provincial coinage of this period. The emperor's laurel wreath, paludamentum, and segmented cuirass are rendered with typical provincial workmanship. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the emperor by his full titulature.
