Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and the segmented cuirass articulated in relief. The imperial effigy is presented in the characteristic provincial style of Asia Minor, with bold, slightly coarse workmanship typical of the Adramyteum mint. The encircling Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan.
