| Reverse description | The eponymous hero Akmôn, wearing a billowing chlamys, gallops on horseback to the right, wielding a whip raised in his extended hand. Before him rises the sacred Dindymos hill, upon which two Oreiad nymphs are depicted standing. At the foot of the hill reclines the river god Sindros, rendered in the conventional pose of a reclining river deity, turning to the left. The composition is a mythological foundation scene closely associated with the city of Acmonia in Phrygia. |
