| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor in military dress with visible pauldron detail at the shoulder. A partial Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The portrait is boldly struck with characteristic high relief, now largely obscured by a heavy emerald-green patina consistent with prolonged burial. |
