Obverse description Laureate bust of Commodus with long beard, draped in paludamentum and cuirass, facing right and seen from the rear in a three-quarter back view, a presentation style characteristic of provincial Asiatic coinage of the Antonine period. The imperial titulature is rendered in Greek characters disposed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait conveys the emperor's mature iconography as adopted during his later reign, with the heavy beard and military attire emphasizing his martial authority.
