Obverse description Bare laureate head of Caracalla facing right, with youthful portrait features typical of the emperor's early reign. The legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan. The portrait is rendered in the standard provincial style of the Lower Moesian mint at Nicopolis ad Istrum, with visible drapery at the truncation of the neck.

Reverse description Athena, helmeted and clad in aegis, standing facing right, holding an upright spear in her right hand and resting her left hand upon a large round shield set on a low rectangular base. The reverse legend is disposed around the periphery of the flan in Greek characters, identifying the issuing city. The figure is rendered in a static, frontal-adjacent pose typical of Moesian provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period.
