Obverse description Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with characteristic elaborate coiffure of wavy hair arranged in ridged waves above the forehead and gathered into a large chignon at the nape of the neck. The portrait reflects the refined Severan court style typical of the Smyrnaean civic bronze coinage. The Greek legend is disposed around the bust in the field.
