Reverse description The Capitoline she-wolf (lupa) stands to the right with head turned back to the left, suckling the twins Romulus and Remus who crouch beneath her. This reverse type, evoking the legendary founding of Rome, was characteristic of the Roman colonial coinage of Alexandria Troas and served to emphasize the city's status as a Roman colonia. The Latin colonial legend COL AVG TROAD is disposed around the type within a circular border.
