Reverse description The Genius of the colony standing left in the field, holding in the right hand a small cult statue of Apollo Smintheus — depicted with quiver and bow — and cradling a cornucopia in the left arm, symbolising the abundance and divine protection of the colonia. The composition reflects the strong local veneration of Apollo Smintheus, the patron deity of the Troad region. The colonial legend COL AVG TROAD is distributed around the figure, identifying the issuing authority as Colonia Augusta Troas. The reverse type is characteristic of the civic pride expressed on the autonomous bronze coinage of Alexandria Troas under the Severan dynasty.
