| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of the youthful Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from the front with visible breastplate adorned with a gorgoneion apotropaic device. The legend encircles the effigy, identifying the emperor by his titles and name in Greek characters. The portrait reflects the early youthful iconography of Caracalla, consistent with provincial coinage struck during the first years of his reign. The cuirass lends a martial character to the imperial effigy. |
