Obverse description Confronted laureate, draped and cuirassed busts of Valerian I (left) and Gallienus (right) facing one another, with a smaller bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of the Caesar Valerian II positioned between them facing right. The three imperial effigies are arranged in a distinctive triple-portrait composition characteristic of the joint reign coinage of Nicomedia. The surrounding legend in Greek identifies all three members of the imperial family.
