Reverse description The emperor, radiate and in military attire, is depicted mounted on a galloping horse facing right, his right arm raised and brandishing a spear. The dynamic equestrian composition fills the central field, conveying imperial military virtue. A Greek legend in two lines is distributed around the circumference of the flan, identifying Nicomedia's privileged status as a twice-neocorate city. The reverse displays a green patina with areas of earthen encrustation typical of bronze provincial coinage from Bithynia.
