| Obverse description | Confronted busts of Nerva and Trajan, both laureate: the bare-headed effigy of Nerva faces right while the draped bust of Trajan faces left, the two portraits juxtaposed in the field. The encircling legend names both emperors, reading ΑΥΤ ΝΕΡΒΑΣ ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟΣ ΝΕΡ. The confronted arrangement is characteristic of civic bronzes celebrating dynastic succession and the adoptive relationship between the two rulers. |

Apollonia ad Rhyndacum, a small Bithynian city on the lake now called Uluabat Gölü, struck civic bronze under Roman provincial authority throughout the Trajanic period. The city's coinage is sparsely documented — III#1595 accounts for only a handful of confirmed specimens — and the ethnic legend's partially preserved upsilon points to die wear or a variant spelling that cataloguers have not fully resolved.
