Reverse description The bearded river god Sagaris reclines to the left in the conventional Hellenistic tradition for river deity personifications. He rests his left arm upon an overturned vase from which water flows freely, while his right hand holds a reed. The figure is rendered with naturalistic musculature and drapery typical of provincial Roman-era bronze coinage of Bithynia. The reverse legend naming the city and the deity is disposed around the field.
