| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of the personified Roman Senate (ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ) facing right, depicted in the manner of a mature male effigy with elaborate drapery folds visible at the shoulder. The legend ΙΕΡΑ ϹΥΝΚΛΗΤΟϹ (Sacred Senate) runs around the periphery of the field. The style is characteristic of provincial bronze coinage struck under Septimius Severus at Aphrodisias, with a dotted border encircling the design. |
