| Obverse description | Draped bust of Julia Domna facing right, with her characteristic elaborate coiffure of waved hair drawn back into a bun at the nape of the neck. The empress is depicted with finely rendered drapery over the shoulder and chest. The Greek legend ΙΟΥΛΙΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ encircles the effigy, identifying her as Julia Augusta.
