Additional information

Philip I elevated his son, also Philip, to the rank of Caesar in 244 AD — the year he secured peace with Persia by paying a substantial tribute and extracting the Roman army from Mesopotamia, a settlement his enemies called a ransom. The Pisidian Antioch mint was one of several provincial operations pressed into service during this period, partly to finance military obligations the central mint at Rome could not absorb alone.

SNG von Aulock 4934 provides the closest parallel for die alignment on this type.
