| Obverse description | Bare head of the emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of mid-first century AD bronze coinage. The portrait displays the youthful, fleshy features associated with early Neronian imagery, with no diadem or laurel wreath. The Greek legend ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ is disposed in the field, flanking the imperial effigy on either side. The flan is irregular and somewhat thick, characteristic of hammered provincial bronze issues. |
