| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Nero facing right, rendered in the provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The portrait displays the characteristic features of Nero's early coinage, with a wreath of laurel encircling the head. The surrounding Greek legend, abbreviated in the Alexandrian manner, identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show the typical fabric of hammered Egyptian provincial bronze coinage. |
