| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus Caesar facing right, portrayed as a young prince with short hair, the paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder and the cuirass visible at the lower truncation. The Greek legend encircles the bust in the field, identifying the prince by his full titulature. The portrait style is consistent with provincial workshop production of the Severan-Maximinian period, with bold, slightly schematic facial features characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage. |
