| Additional information |
Acmoneia was a Phrygian city whose civic coinage under Maximinus Thrax reflects the awkward local diplomacy of his reign — a emperor so despised by the senatorial class that the SPQR never formally acknowledged many of his provincial issues. The city minted throughout his three-year rule despite his murder at Aquileia in 238, likely unaware of his fall before these dies were already in use.
