Additional information

Acrasus was a minor Lydian city whose civic coinage depended entirely on the prestige of the sitting Roman magistrate named in the legend — here Bassus, whose strategos tenure bracketed a narrow two-year window under co-emperorship. Provincial bronzes naming obscure local officials like this are among the few surviving records that such administrators held office at all.
