| Obverse description | Bare-headed, cuirassed bust of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius facing right, rendered with characteristic curly hair and short beard in the Antonine style. The effigy displays the emperor in military dress, with the cuirass visible at the truncation. A Greek imperial legend encircles the bust in the field, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ Μ ΑΥ(Ρ) ΑΝΤΩΝΙ(ΝΟϹ). The portrait is executed in the provincial style typical of Bithynian civic coinage, with moderately high relief now softened by surface wear and green patination. |
