| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gallienus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view from the rear, displaying the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the scale-pattern of the cuirass. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial workshop style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer field, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy green patination consistent with prolonged burial. |
