| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Lydian civic coinage. The laurel wreath is depicted with fine detail, and the paludamentum is visible over the cuirass at the shoulder. A circular Greek legend surrounds the imperial portrait in the field. The portrait presents the youthful features characteristic of Elagabalus as depicted on eastern provincial issues of his reign. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Lydios depicted standing facing, head turned to the left, holding a long sceptre in his raised left hand and a thunderbolt in his extended right hand. The deity is shown in the traditional Lydian cult type associated with the principal sanctuary at Sardis. The composition reflects the standard reverse iconography used on Sardian civic bronzes asserting the city's status as a twice-neokoros. The Greek civic legend is distributed around the figure in the field. |
