| Obverse description | Zeus enthroned to left, rendered in a robust provincial style, seated upon a throne or high-backed seat with footstool visible below. The deity extends his right hand forward, holding a small Nike figure, while his left hand rests on a tall upright sceptre. A Greek circular legend surrounds the type, with the abbreviated ethnic ΘΕΥ (or similar) inscribed within an exergual panel beneath the throne. The legend ΑΝΘΥΠΑΤΩ ΦΡΟΝΤΕΙΝΩ ϹΤΡΑΤΗΓΟϹ ΡΗΓΕΙΝΟϹ, referring to the proconsul Frontinus and the strategos Regeinos, runs around the periphery of the field. |
