Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Domitian facing right, with aegis or drapery visible on the left shoulder. The Imperial effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of Ionian civic coinage, with the portrait occupying the majority of the flan. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, partially visible due to wear and the irregular flan.

Reverse description Two Nemeses standing facing one another in the field, each draped in long chiton, holding a bridle and measuring rod (cubit-rule) respectively — attributes emblematic of divine retribution and just measure. The composition reflects the homonoia (concord) type common to civic bronze coinage issued jointly by Ephesus and Smyrna. The abbreviated legends of the issuing cities and the proconsul's name appear in the field and around the figures.
