Additional information

The Koinon of Thessaly — a regional league with roots stretching back to the classical period — retained the right to strike bronze provincial coinage under Claudius, one of several Greek koina Rome permitted to maintain limited civic minting as a concession to local administrative tradition. RPC I 1433B is a scarce variety within the type; the RPC Online classification distinguishes it from the primary 1433 on die grounds, and specimens attributable to this specific variety remain thinly documented in major collections.
