| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Antoninus Pius facing right, the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder, with characteristic short beard and wavy hair rendered in the provincial style. The portrait, though worn, retains the recognizable physiognomy of the emperor as depicted on Gazan civic coinage of the Antonine period. The circumferential Greek legend reads ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙ ΑΝΤωΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy green patination consistent with prolonged burial. |

| Reverse description | Tyche of Gaza, the city's tutelary deity, depicted standing to the left, wearing a kalathos (modius) upon her head, holding a long sceptre in her right hand and a cornucopia in her left. To the left of the figure stands a heifer facing left, a distinctive symbol associated with Gazan civic iconography. To the right appears the Gaza civic symbol known as the mem, a Semitic letter used as a local emblem. The reverse legend ΒϹ ΓΑΖΑ, meaning 'year [x] of Gaza', reflects the local Gazan civic era dating system used on the city's autonomous bronze coinage. |
