Reverse description Tyche, the personification of the city's fortune, is depicted seated to the left upon a throne, wearing a turreted or prize crown upon her head. She holds a model temple in each outstretched hand, a compositional device alluding to Nicomedia's prestigious thrice-neocorate status — the right to host three imperial cult temples. The encircling Greek legend within a dotted border proudly proclaims this honour.
