| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Valerian to right, depicted from the rear in the so-called 'heroic' three-quarter perspective characteristic of mid-third century provincial coinage. The emperor wears a radiate crown of laurel and military cuirass with pteryges visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs clockwise around the periphery of the field. |
