Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed laurel wreath and close-cropped hair characteristic of Trajanic portraiture. The bare neck and strong facial features conform to the imperial portrait conventions of the early 2nd century AD. The circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading from upper left around the periphery of the field.
