| Obverse description | Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of a young prince, most probably Herennius Etruscus or Hostilian, turned to the left and viewed from the rear, rendered in the provincial die-cutting style characteristic of Ionian civic mints. The portrait exhibits a youthful physiognomy consistent with the junior co-emperors of the Trajanic Decian dynasty. A retrograde Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, poorly executed and partially garbled, reflecting the modest workshop standards of the Priene mint during this period. |
