Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with drapery visible on the left shoulder, rendered in the provincial Greek style. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic features with a radiate wreath of laurel leaves crowning the head. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙ ΑΡΙ ϹΕ ΓΕΡ ΔΑ ΠΑΡ, abbreviating his full imperial titulature including his honorific cognomina Armenicus, Germanicus, Dacicus, and Parthicus. The die work reflects the competent engraving tradition of the Lydian provincial mint at Thyatira during the final years of Trajan's reign.
