| Obverse description | Bare head of Pompey the Great facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with characteristic full, slightly tousled hair swept back from the forehead. The truncation of the neck is cleanly cut, and a six-pointed star appears in the lower right field, serving as a civic symbol associated with the city of Pompeiopolis. No legend is present on the obverse, the portrait itself serving as the primary identification of the city's eponymous founder. |
